Once upon a time in Hawaii

L.A. calling

After graduating from High School, Mars decided to trade Honolulu for Los Angeles. He struggled for several years, which eventually led him to the craftsmanship of songwriting. Through a mutual friend, he met songwriter Phillip Lawrence, who liked his material but wanted one of his own artists to sing his songs. Our hero, out of money and ideas, sold his work, and realized that he might be better off behind the scenes, writing his signature Bruno Mars chords and tunes for other artists. In January 2015, Mars teamed up with Mark Ronson to produce the retro dance hit “Uptown Funk”, a three-minute disco spectacle of pure fun that became a pop culture phenomenon and won a Grammy for Record of the Year.

He kept riding the waves of success with 24K Magic, which many critics hailed as one of the best albums of the decade. It won him seven trophies at the 2018 Grammy Awards. The accompanying world tour would go on to become one of the highest-grossing tours of all time, and earned Mars praise for his outstanding showmanship and live production.
